DC Social Forum - This Saturday!

The folks who are behind the larger U.S. Social Forum being held this summer are sponsoring a local social forum for DC-area activists and organizers. It's going down this Saturday, March 3, starting at 9:00 AM at the Catholic University of America (Brookland-CUA Metro stop). Registration is sliding scale, $5 - 50, with all the money going toward travel scholarships for people who want to get to the U.S. Social Forum but can't afford to.

In addition, there are a few events of particular interest to students:

  • DC BLOC is holding two sessions, "Building a Youth Movement in DC (ages 14-21)", and "Supporting a Youth Movement in DC (for Adult Allies and Youth Workers)".
  • I'll be presenting the session "Organizing for Student Power in Higher Ed: DC and Beyond." This will be a combination of a short lecture on student power on the university level and then the rest of the session will be dedicated to figuring out ways activists on all the DC-area campuses can work together on common projects (I have one idea in particular, which I'll talk about on Saturday).

Hope to see you all there!
